Installation site

Installation site in the SpeicherCampus context: affects safety, operation, maintenance and permitting. Technically, the term is usually described as the location of the installation.

What does installation site mean?

The installation site is the storage system’s physical location — and one of the most underestimated project factors. It determines the required IP rating, the cooling concept, cable routes, fire-protection requirements, service access and, in the end, often whether the project is permittable at all.

Indoor and outdoor siting impose different demands: indoors, floor load, ventilation, escape routes and fire compartments count; outdoors, weather, IP rating, foundation, solar exposure and impact protection.

What matters in practice

  • distance to the main low-voltage distribution: cable routes cost money and losses
  • fire protection: clearances to buildings, escape routes, fire-brigade access
  • foundation and levelness per manufacturer specification
  • think ahead: reserve space for expansion cabinets

Practical example

A business planned its storage inside the warehouse. The review showed: fire compartmentation and insurance requirements would have demanded expensive alterations. Outdoor siting at the rear wall — IP54, short cable route, free fire-brigade access — was faster and cheaper.

The SpeicherCampus perspective

SpeicherCampus clarifies the installation site early, with photos and a site plan in the project review form — before the system choice creates facts the site cannot support.
